A new five-year development strategy has been launched between New Brunswick and France.
The launch on Thursday is part of celebrations surrounding France’s national holiday — Bastille Day.
Nine objectives are contained in the strategy aimed at strengthening the province’s relations with France, which include:
- Expanding recruitment activities to increase the number of Francophone immigrants.
- Heightening awareness in France of the various tourist attractions in New Brunswick.
- Promoting and marketing Acadian artists on the international stage.
- Facilitating credential recognition in priority occupations.
The plan also includes several key performance indicators to be achieved over the next five years in agriculture, aquaculture, fisheries, tourism, education and immigration.
“The special relationship that New Brunswick has enjoyed for many years with France has created advantages for our province in the sectors of education, tourism and culture,” Glen Savoie, minister responsible for La Francophonie, said in a statement.
“Our government is ready to build on these successes and attract investment in emerging sectors, such as cybersecurity, advanced technologies and clean technology, in which areas France is a global leader.”
The new strategy was developed in collaboration with the Consulate General of France.
