Federal cash will help a new wellness park in Charlotte County become reality.
Ginette Petitpas Taylor, the minister responsible for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency, revealed an investment of $70,294 on Wednesday in Saint Andrews.
“Strong, vibrant communities in New Brunswick are a critical part of a robust and inclusive economic recovery. Investing in shared outdoor spaces like this wellness park in Saint Andrews will help revitalize local economies, boost tourism, create jobs, and give residents a place to come together safely,” Petitpas Taylor said.
The funding will assist Saint Andrews Outdoor Recreation and Trails Inc as they build a wellness park with eight exercise stations.
David Johnson is president of Saint Andrews Outdoor Recreation and Trails Inc.
“As an Age-Friendly Community, it is important that we strive to develop free accessible recreation options for our residents and visitors. Recreation is the cornerstone to breaking barriers and developing opportunities for inclusion, exercise, learning, and socialization. Through our strong partnership with the Canadian Government, the Saint Andrews Outdoor Recreation and Trails Inc, and the Town of Saint Andrews, we are able to provide this new recreation and social asset to our community.”
The town of Saint Andrews has kicked in $23,432 for the project.
Organizers believe the park will improve community access to outdoor recreation and enhance health and wellness for everyone.
