Sussex-area residents will once again be without their emergency department for part of the weekend.
Horizon Health has announced two more temporary closures at the Sussex Health Centre ER.
The emergency room will be closed from 5:30 p.m. Friday to 7:30 a.m. Saturday, and from 5:30 p.m. Sunday to 7:30 a.m. Monday.
Horizon said the temporary closures are due to COVID-related illnesses among staff.
“All patients and clients requiring urgent medical care will need to seek treatment at another hospital,” the health authority said in a news release on Thursday.
“Horizon apologizes for any inconvenience this temporary closure may cause. This decision was made to ensure safe and quality care for our patients and clients.”
This is the third weekend in a row that there have been temporary closures at the Sussex emergency room.
There were also a number of temporary closures in the months of March and April.
