Swimmers from across the Maritimes will compete in Saint John from July 8 to 10.
The 2022 Atlantic Cup Swimming Championship is the final swim meet of the season and will take place at the Canada Games Aquatic Centre.
The event will be hosted by the Fredericton Aquanauts Swim Team (FAST).
“FAST is very excited to be able to host Atlantic Cup this year. It will be the final swim meet in NB for this season and we hope that we can make it a memorable event for swimmers, coaches, officials, and parents. We expect great competition and a fun atmosphere,” said Michael MacDonald in a release, meet manager for the Atlantic Cup Swimming Championship.
Swim teams from New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and PEI will flood the city.
It is estimated that over 200 swimmers will participate in the event, ranging from ages 10 to 18.
It will include preliminary swims in the morning to qualify for finals in the evening.
“We are excited to host athletes, spectators, coaches, and officials from across the Maritimes for the 2022 Atlantic Cup,” reads a statement from Paulette Hicks, CEO of Envision Saint John.
“Events like this help to fill our restaurants, hotels, and shops – driving economic impact for the Saint John region. The Atlantic Cup will bring an estimated $200,000 to Saint John and the Towns by the Bay,” added Hick’s statement.
