Over the Canada Day long weekend, Saint John police will conduct an impaired driving campaign.
From Friday, July 1, to Sunday, July 3, officers will be out educating and enforcing impaired driving.
The focus of the campaign is saving lives and reducing injuries caused by impaired driving.
Statistics from MADD Canada outline, on average, four Canadians are killed and 175 are injured in impairment-related crashes each day.
As well, it is estimated between 1,250 and 1,500 people are killed and more than 63,000 are injured each year in Canada in impairment-related crashes.
During this campaign, traffic management officers will target offenses under the Criminal Code
of Canada and the Motor Vehicle Act.
