RCMP say an 82-year-old woman from Sainte-Anne-de-Kent who was reported missing on Monday has been found deceased.
The woman’s body was found in Bouctouche Bay around 2 o’clock Tuesday afternoon.
An autopsy will be performed to determine the woman’s exact cause of death.
Police do not believe this is a criminal matter.
In a news release on Monday, RCMP said Germaine Chiasson was last seen on Sunday around 12 p.m. at a home in Sainte-Anne-de-Kent.
Police said her vehicle was later found near a bridge on Route 134 in Bouctouche.
The search and recovery included Richibucto RCMP, RCMP resources such as the underwater recovery team, the police dog and unmanned aerial vehicle operators along with the Bouctouche Fire Department.
