The Saint John Sea Dogs continue their Memorial Cup run.
The 2022 Memorial Cup tournament continues Wednesday night as the Sea Dogs take on the Edmonton Oil Kings.
The Sea Dogs won their first game 5-3 against the Hamilton Bulldogs, while the Oil Kings are coming off of a 4-3 loss against the Shawinigan Cataractes.
After the teams finished their morning skates, players had a chance to speak to the media.
Sea Dogs Forward, Brady Burns mentioned that the team’s confidence continues to build.
“Coming out and being able to play the first game of the tournament is huge for our team, obviously to get that win is even bigger, so coming out I think we are really happy with our performance and we have to keep building on it because we’ve accomplished nothing yet.”
When Burns added that the team expects the Oil Kings to come out and play hard after Tuesday night’s loss.
“They’re a big, physical, and fast team, and they’re coming out of the west for a reason, obviously they’re going to be hungry tonight, so we have to stick to what we do best, we don’t have to worry about other teams we just have to play our game.”
Sea Dogs Interim Head Coach Gardiner MacDougall also spoke with the media.
He added that he hopes the players bring the same mindset they had during game one.
“I think they had a certain level of confidence, a certain level of excitement, that’s probably the best word, I think they were excited to play well, and when you’re excited you play excited, which I think we have to tonight (Wednesday) as well.”
The game will begin at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at TD Station.
