New Brunswick recorded no deaths related to COVID-19 for the week ending Saturday, June 18.
That is according to the latest weekly COVID-19 report released by the Department of Health on Tuesday.
There have been 422 deaths attributed to the virus in New Brunswick since the pandemic began.
Meanwhile, New Brunswick’s two health authorities are reporting an increase in the number of active COVID-19 hospitalizations.
The latest figures show 46 people in the hospital as of Saturday, which includes three in intensive care. That is compared to the 41 hospitalizations reported by the health authorities one week earlier.
- Horizon Health: 35 active admissions and two in intensive care.
- Vitalité Health: 11 active admissions and one in intensive care.
The figures reported by the health authorities include those hospitalized for COVID and those with the virus being treated primarily for other conditions.
Meanwhile, the latest weekly COVIDWATCH update from the province showed 25 people in the hospital for COVID-19 as of Saturday, a drop of two. The number of people in an ICU for COVID-19 is up by one to three.
The numbers from the province only include patients who were hospitalized as a result of COVID-19.
There were 17 new hospital admissions for COVID over the past week compared to 23 new admissions the previous week, according to Public Health. One of those new admissions involved someone under the age of 10.
According to health officials, three were two new ICU admissions for COVID-19 over the past week.
“The highest portion of hospitalizations for COVID-19 is among individuals aged 60-79,” the Department of Health said in its weekly report.
According to the two health authorities, 94 health care workers were off the job as of Saturday after testing positive for COVID-19, up slightly from 91 a week earlier.
There were 828 reported positive cases of COVID-19 over the past week, including 425 PCR tests and 403 rapid tests.
In terms of vaccinations, the Department of Health says 846 doses were given out over the past week, including 123 first doses, 197 second doses, and 526 booster doses.
Just over 88 per cent of eligible New Brunswickers have received two doses and 52.7 per cent have received booster shots.
