A 46-year-old Saint John man is facing charges for sexual interference and possessing child pornography.
Police responded to a call shortly before 2 a.m. on Tuesday that reported the graphic content had been discovered on the man’s cell phone.
Officers later learned that the children depicted were known to the offender.
“The Saint John Police Family Protection Unit, with the assistance of members of the Patrol Services Division along with members of the RCMP Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit executed a search warrant at the man’s residence where a number of electronic devices were seized in connection with the on-going investigation,” police said in a statement.
Investigators say the man has been released from custody on an undertaking. He must follow conditions, including “not be in or near any places where children under the age of 16 years are likely to congregate.”
The man will appear before a judge on Dec. 15.
