New Brunswick recorded one additional death related to COVID-19 for the week ending Saturday, June 11.
That is according to the latest weekly COVID-19 report released by the Department of Health on Tuesday.
There have now been 422 deaths attributed to the virus in New Brunswick since the pandemic began.
Meanwhile, New Brunswick’s two health authorities are reporting a decrease in the number of active COVID-19 hospitalizations, but a slight increase in ICU admissions.
The latest figures show 41 people in the hospital as of Saturday, which includes three in intensive care. That is compared to the 66 hospitalizations and two ICU admissions reported by the health authorities one week earlier.
- Horizon Health: 32 active admissions and two in intensive care; compared to 46 active admissions and two in intensive care one week ago.
- Vitalité Health: 9 active admissions and zero in intensive care; compared to 20 active admissions and zero in intensive care one week ago.
The figures reported by the health authorities include those hospitalized for COVID and those with the virus being treated primarily for other conditions.
Meanwhile, the latest weekly COVIDWATCH update from the province showed 27 people in the hospital for COVID-19 as of Saturday, an a decrease of one. The number of people in an ICU for COVID-19 is done by one to two.
The numbers from the province only include patients who were hospitalized as a result of COVID-19.
According to the two health authorities, 84 health care workers were off the job as of Saturday after testing positive for COVID-19, down from 94 a week earlier.
There were 842 reported positive cases of COVID-19 over the past week, including 471 PCR tests and 371 rapid tests.
In terms of vaccinations, the Department of Health mentioned 934 doses were given out over the past week, including 123 first doses, 229 second doses, and 582 booster doses.
Just over 88 per cent of eligible New Brunswickers have received two doses and 52.6 per cent have received booster shots.
