A Moncton birth mother will be reunited with her daughter 26 years after giving her up for adoption.
Wanda Burgoyne began searching for Emily seven years ago, adding that it was her daughter that reached out first.
“Emily had also bought an Ancestry test for her mom, and somehow her mom talked her into doing the test and when she did it, I came up 50 per cent a match,” said Burgoyne. “She looked me up on Facebook and sent me a friend request. As soon as I saw the name Emily, I just knew it was her. Now, I found out she is expecting at the end of August and we are going to meet this weekend at her baby shower.”
Burgoyne and the birth father had separated for many years, but they are now back together.
The father, Wanda, her son and her mother are going to meet Emily.
“He(my son) is very excited and it seems they have quite a bit in common.”
She feels Emily has been a missing part of her heart for 26 years now.
“I’ve learned a little bit about her. I actually got to meet her mom,” added Burgoyne. “She came for a little visit so that was really nice. She had filled me in on some little stories and showed me some pictures, but this will be our initial meeting.”
