Tens of thousands of country fans will converge on Greater Moncton in August.
YQM Country Fest will be held at the MusiquArt site, next to the UNIplex in Dieppe on the 26 and 27th.
“The site can hold just shy of 25,000 and we’re well over 50 per cent sold,” said promoter Sam Bourgeois. “A good chunk (tickets sold) from the Maritimes, Moncton, Halifax, Saint John, Fredericton, a little bit of everywhere. We’re seeing people from Quebec, and Ontario, so we’ve been getting support from everywhere.”
Blake Shelton and Florida Georgia Line are headliners, with many other acts to follow.
“We’re really excited and everything is going well so far. We’ve been getting good feedback,” added Bourgeois. “The site was used once previously in 2019 for the Acadian Congress. They had 23,000 people in attendance. We’re the first show post-COVID. Obviously, we are working closely with the municipality to make sure we have all of our ducks in a row to have the most seamless concert possible.”
Bourgeois hopes to make this an annual country music festival, similar to the Cavendish Beach Music Festival held every year in Prince Edward Island in July.
“We really saw an opportunity to bring something similar to Dieppe instead. Greater Moncton is known as the Hub of the Maritimes, with much easier access, so that is what we are going for,” Bourgeois mentioned.
