You will have the chance to experience the natural world and the activities it celebrates this weekend.
The Outdoor Outdoor Film Festival will premiere on the uptown Saint John waterfront on Friday night.
It is a celebration of stories of outdoor playgrounds from local spots and scenes around the world.
Co-founder Greg Hemmings said it is similar to the Banff Centre Mountain Film Festival World Tour they have been hosting over the past few years.
“The Banff Mountain Film Festival brought in these epic films from around the world, but we never see films that could be made in Saint John, as an example or other communities like ours,” said Hemmings, who founded Hemmings House Pictures.
“We saw a niche opportunity in the global outdoor adventure film market to create a festival that encourages anybody to make films about their outdoor adventures.”
Hemmings said they received more than 150 submissions from around the world.
Those submissions were narrowed down to 16 films, including six from Atlantic Canada.
“Some quite short, other ones between 12 and 15 minutes. They’re all snackable size,” said Hemmings.
The festival will take place at the Area 506 Waterfront Container Village starting at 7 p.m. Friday. Viewers should bring their own blanket or chair.
According to the event website, there will be food trucks on-site and Graystone will be available for purchase in the beer garden.
