A five-week tour of New Brunswick has begun for Plug’n Drive.
It is a non-profit organization to increase awareness about electric vehicles (EV).
The tour started in Saint John, and will also visit four other New Brunswick communities.
While Plug’n Drive is on tour in New Brunswick, visitors can expect to see an EV discovery centre on wheels.
“We take a person visiting through EV ownership and benefits such as benefits to the environment, as well as the economic benefits, and really top of mind for many people is charging, and how it works, how does home charging work, how does public charging work,” mentioned Dav Cvitkovic, chief operating officer for Plug’n Drive.
Visitors will also be able to test-drive an electric vehicle on location.
Cvitkovic added that the EV landscape in Canada is beginning to change rapidly.
“In Canada, we’re starting to see the industry as a whole being embraced. Everything from mining and minerals, battery production, and of course some manufacturing taking place in Ontario, so it’s a win-win for consumers, the environment, and of course the industry.”
Plug’n Drive’s tour of the five New Brunswick communities is a partnership with NB Power.
“The partnership is going great. We’re working together to raise awareness of EVs and kind of buff some myths that are out there because a lot of people think that range is an issue, and a lot of people also have concerns with batteries after you’re done driving the car,” said Jean-Marc Landry, NB Power’s Chief Customer Officer.
The tour will be at TD Station in Saint John until Sunday before heading to Fredericton, Riverview, Bathurst, and Grand Falls.
The tour wraps up on July 10.
