The Saint John Police Force will replace six of its vehicles.
The force will purchase six Ford Explorer Hybrid AWD Interceptors.
It comes as two vehicles were damaged beyond repair, while the other four will surpass the end of life by 2023.
The base cost of each vehicle is $57,055.50 and an anticipated cost of $15,000 to fit each of the vehicles for service.
The total price tag is $432,333, and the cost of the vehicles will be funded from the police vehicle reserves.
They are not anticipated to arrive in Saint John until 2023.
The purchase aligns with the force’s fleet strategy and meets the common council’s green priority.
