A couple from Pointe-du-Chene are a million dollars richer thanks to Maxmillions.
Donald and Janet Duncan were in disbelief when they learned they had won the million-dollar prize from the May 24th Lotto Max draw.
“I was at the store when I checked my ticket and the cashier told me I was a major winner and I’d have to call this number,” Donald said. “I went right home and told my wife we won a major prize, but she thought I was just kidding.”
Donald said he has never been a regular lottery player, only purchasing tickets on a whim or when the jackpots were high. Now, he said he may become a more regular player. “This is real, it really does happen,” Donald said. “It could happen again, you just never know.”
Both Donald and Janet were already retired but said their win will make life a lot easier.
Plans for their winnings include paying off their mortgage, living debt-free and doing lots of traveling during the winter months.
“We can go anywhere we want really,” Janet said. “We’ve got options.”
“We’re going to have some fun now,” Donald added.
