The owners of a Hampton funeral home are working to restore it to its former glory.
Reid’s Funeral Home on Main Street, which caught fire at around 3 a.m. on Sept. 23, 2021, has been working out of its temporary home at the Lighthouse River Centre.
Dyson Regular, director of Reid’s Funeral Home, said in an interview Thursday that staff have worked towards a rebuild since the fire.
“We engaged a design firm to work with us, along with a general contractor,” said Regular.
“Between all three parties, we came up with a design that would work in the location where we were situated in town.”
Regular said the company behind the home’s new design is Saint John-based TOSS Solutions, while Hampton-based BelleBay Construction will take up the contracting side of the job.
“It’s a beautiful location and the new building is going to be situated to better capitalize on the Kennebecasis River view,” he said.
Crews broke ground on the new building in March.
Regular said the new home is expected to be complete by this fall.
