A Grade 12 student from Saint Andrews has received one of the prestigious Currie Undergraduate Scholarships from the University of New Brunswick.
Anjali Singh is one of four high school students from Atlantic Canada to receive the scholarships, valued at $65,000 each.
Established by UNB Chancellor Emeritus Dr. Richard J. Currie, one of Canada’s most accomplished business leaders and philanthropists, the scholarship recognizes high school students for their potential leadership skills, present community involvement, academic success and obstacles overcome.
Singh, who attends Sir James Dunn Academy, is a member of the student representative council, renaissance club, grad class executive and co-editor of the yearbook.
She has also been involved in many school sports and founded the school’s technology club.
Singh volunteered for several years with Me to We and the Saint Andrews Youth Centre, assisting with local and international community service.
She is also a recipient of several outstanding student awards including a 2019 N.B. Turning Point Award and the Leanne Butters Award of Excellence.
Singh will begin a bachelor of science degree on UNB’s Saint John campus.
This year’s recipients also include Kohen Prince-Vautour of Miramichi, Lexa Lloyd of Escuminac, N.B., and Lauren Shears of Oxford, N.S.
