Motorcycle safety will be the focus of a campaign by the Saint John Police Force this weekend.
Officers will increase motorcycle checks to ensure riders and their bikes are meeting the required safety standards.
“Over the weekend, traffic management officers will increase motorcycle checks to ensure that riders and motorcycles are meeting the required safety standards,” police said in a news release.
Transport Canada says nearly 200 people on average died each year between 2015 and 2019 while operating a motorcycle in Canada.
This is the latest traffic safety campaign to be conducted by the police force this year.
Previous campaigns have focused on impaired driving, seatbelt use, and the province’s “Move Over, Slow Down” law.
