Despite ongoing search efforts, an entangled North Atlantic right whale in the Gulf of St. Lawrence has not yet been found.
The whale has been identified as Sundog and was last seen entangled in fishing gear on May 19, east of Gaspe, Quebec.
The Department of Fisheries and Oceans and the Campobello Whale Rescue Team have been involved in the search.
DFO aircraft have resumed regular right whale surveillance activities but will continue to monitor for Sundog.
Marine mammal response partners will mobilize if the whale is spotted.
DFO says it will provide an update if Sundog is seen again in Canadian waters.
