There’s a unique opportunity for amateur bakers from the east coast to flaunt their baking skills and tell their stories through cake.
“Cross Country Cake Off” is a new competition series coming to Canadian airwaves this winter to celebrate Canada’s best cake-makers who produce Instagram-able creations
Meredith Veats, casting director of Cross Country Cake Off, said in an interview despite it being a Canada-wide competition, producers want to place a particular focus on the east coast.
“This is a competition for non-professional bakers to show off their cakes, to show off the hard work that they’ve put into creating cakes and the skills and techniques that come with it is all about cakes,” said Veats.
Veats said cake makers with the most impressive cakes will be selected for the show and invited to local events so they can present their creations in front of a team of judges.
Overall, she says it’s a chance to show off all their work and skills that came from a place of love and celebration.
“A lot of bakers we talked to started making cakes because they had a kid and started having birthday parties for their kid or they wanted to do something for their loved ones, and they made their first cake,” said Veats.
“And then they liked it and they made an even better cake and an even more impressive cake.”
At the end of the show, one lucky Canadian will be crowned as the country’s Best Cake Maker and win a large cash prize – on top of bragging rights.
Veats said interested bakers have until June 24 to fill out applications online.
