Members of the efficiency industry and business leaders will descend on Saint John next month.
NB Power is gearing up for the return of its Energizing Efficiency Conference on June 7 and 8.
This is the third year for the event, which was put on hold the past two years due to the pandemic.
Jean-Marc Landry, chief customer officer at NB Power, described it as the premier place to talk about energy efficiency.
“Instead of having to travel out of province to attend conferences or to meet experts that are specific in the industry to certain, we’re going to bring them all into one location,” Landry said in a recent interview.
This year’s conference includes more than 20 keynote speakers, panels and breakout sessions.
Among them is Nino Di Cara, the founder of Electric Autonomy Canada, whose presentation will focus on the future of transportation in Canada.
“We’re seeing more and more electric vehicles on the road, a lot of people looking into electric vehicles, but he’ll also be able to talk about public transit and other modes of transportation,” said Landry.
Rob Johnson, vice-president of the Seattle Kraken and the city’s Climate Pledge Arena, will also join the conference virtually. The arena is described as the “most progressive, responsible, and sustainable arena in the world.”
The theme for this year’s conference is “Climate changes everything, which Landry said is a timely topic.
“There is no better time to have a conversation over a couple of days around this topic,” said Landry.
“Climate change is impacting us all. All our customers and all New Brunswickers are looking for ways to reduce their carbon footprint through small things they can do in their daily lives to the bigger investments that others might make.”
The Energizing Efficiency Conference will take place at the Saint John Trade and Convention Centre. More information can be found on the conference’s website.
