Police in Saint John made several arrests and seized weapons early Tuesday morning on the city’s east side after an attempted break and enter.
Officers responded shortly after midnight on Tuesday to a property on Boyaner Crescent after reports of several armed men attempting to gain entry to a home.
The suspects fled the scene in a black SUV once police arrived.
Investigators arrested five men shortly after, seizing two imitation firearms and a baseball bat from the vehicle.
All five men appeared before a provincial court judge on May 17, where they were charged with forcible entry and weapon-related offenses. They return to court on May 19 for a bail hearing.
Police believe the suspects are known to the homeowners.
Anyone with information on the break and enter can contact the Saint John Police Force or Crime Stoppers.
