The University of New Brunswick will give out six honorary degrees at its graduation ceremonies at the end of this month.
Dr. HEA (Eddy) Campbell and William (Bill) MacMackin are among the six being recognized at UNB graduation ceremonies.
Campbell, who spent 10 years as UNB’s president and vice-chancellor, will receive an honorary doctorate of science. During his tenure, he implemented Truth and Reconciliation recommendations and appointed the university’s first Elder-in-Residence.
He also expanded resources for staff and students, such as doubling UNB’s endowment fund to $300 million.
MacMackin, the president of Athletics Canada, will receive an honorary doctorate of letters. He made a lasting impact through his work supporting regional sports and building athletic scholarships for UNB track and field teams.
He is also the head of several sports organizations, including the Saint John Track Club, the East Coast Games, Team New Brunswick at the 2021 Canada Games and the Irving Oil Field House fundraising effort.
Others who will be recognized at graduation ceremonies in Fredericton and Saint John on May 25, 26 and 27 include Ken and Elaine Carty, Dr. Jaishree Deshpande and Wayne Squibb.
