Another airline is set to make its arrival at the Saint John Airport (YSJ) later this week.
Ultra-low-cost carrier Swoop is scheduled to land for the first time at 8:40 p.m. Thursday.
The airline will offer twice-weekly service between YSJ and Toronto Pearson Airport on Sundays and Thursdays.
Beginning in August, direct flights will be offered four times per week on Sundays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
“We’re delighted to welcome Swoop Airlines to the Saint John Airport,” YSJ president and CEO Sandy Ross said in a news release.
“We are committed to exceeding passenger expectations and travellers will love Swoop’s ultra-low fares and direct service from Saint John to Toronto.”
YSJ is currently served by two other airlines. Air Canada has five daily flights, including three to Toronto and two to Montreal.
Flair Airlines offers direct service to Toronto three times a week on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. Beginning June 8, it will add a twice-weekly service to Kitchener/Waterloo Airport on Tuesdays and Fridays.
Sunwing has confirmed it will be flying again in the fall, according to Ross, with the company expected to make an official announcement in the coming weeks.
Airport officials hope that PAL Airlines, which launched last July before pausing operations in the fall, will resume its Saint John-to-Halifax route sometime this year.
