Over the weekend, a boil water order was issued for parts of East Saint John.
On Saturday, Saint John Water responded to a water main break on Hickey Road near On the Vine Meat & Produce and Tim Hortons.
“The water main has a recorded service date of 1969. Staff are still investigating the cause of the break. It should be noted that the age of the pipe is approximately 50 years old, but the asset life span is 75 years or greater therefore there should be considerable life remaining in the pipe,” reads a release from Natalie Logan, spokesperson for the City of Saint John.
The water main that failed is a main potable water feed into subdivisions in East Saint John.
It was repaired and boil water notices were hand delivered to impacted residents living in the area.
