A 25-unit garden home community in Saint Andrews dubbed Van Horne Garden Homes is moving ahead.
Developers Charlie and Colleen Bourgeois say they have signed a development agreement with the town.
“Since we announced plans for the project several months ago, we have been receiving daily inquiries,” Charlie Bourgeois said in a news release.
“My wife and I are very excited to have the opportunity to establish this development in such a wonderful community.”
The couple purchased the land in question at the corner of Mowat Drive and Bar Road back in 2004.
In an interview last November, Bourgeois said they were waiting for the right opportunity to develop a community.
“Finally we feel the time is right, as it is a priority of the Town of Saint Andrews to offer more housing options,” he said.
Bourgeois said the garden homes will be targeted toward mature adults looking to downsize. The homes have been designed from the ground up with convenience, practicality, quality, style, and energy efficiency in mind.
The development is named after Sir William Van Horne, who played a major role in the economic development and support of the region.
Construction on the project is anticipated to begin sometime this summer.
“Van Horne Garden Homes will be contacting those interested with further information, including occupancy dates, as the project develops,” said the release.
