New Brunswick health officials are reporting 15 more deaths related to COVID-19 over the past week.
That is according to the latest weekly COVID-19 report released by the Department of Health on Tuesday.
The latest deaths involve one person in their 60s, four people in their 70s, four people in their 80s, and six people aged 90 and over.
There have now been 399 deaths attributed to the virus in New Brunswick since the pandemic began.
Meanwhile, New Brunswick’s two health authorities are reporting a drop in the number of active COVID-19 hospitalizations.
The latest figures show 123 people in the hospital as of Saturday, which includes 13 in intensive care.
That is down from the 168 hospitalizations and 19 ICU admissions reported by the health authorities one week earlier.
Horizon Health reported 86 active admissions (nine ICU cases) and Vitalité Health had 37 active admissions (four ICU cases).
The figures include those hospitalized for COVID and those with the virus being treated primarily for other conditions.
Meanwhile, the latest weekly COVIDWATCH update from the province showed 81 people in the hospital for COVID-19 as of Saturday, a decrease of six. The number of people in an ICU for COVID-19 fell by three to 10.
The numbers from the province only include patients who were hospitalized as a result of COVID-19.
There were 64 new hospital admissions for COVID over the past week compared to 74 new admissions the previous week. Two of those new admissions involved people under the age of 20.
According to the two health authorities, 252 health care workers are off the job due to COVID-19 — either because they tested positive for the virus or were a close contact with someone who did. One week earlier, that number stood at 367.
The number of reported positive cases of COVID-19 is also down. Officials reported just over 2,500 positive results over the past week — including 1,392 PCR tests and 1,142 rapid tests — compared to nearly 4,000 the week earlier.
