A clean-up event has been organized in Millidgeville for the second year in a row.
The Millidgeville clean-up event will be held on Sunday, May, 1.
Organizer Christina Kitchen mentioned it is a way to engage and mobilize the community.
“I grew up in this community, I’m still here, we’re small, but I know everyone cares, and we take pride in where we live, and I think that’s important to teach our kids to do the same.”
Last year, the event drew in 200 volunteers and collected over 150 garbage bags of litter.
“I’m hoping we can double our efforts, we had a great turnout last year, so I’m hoping we can do more because there’s still more ground to cover,” said Kitchen.
Those interested can pick up supplies from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Air Canada Centre parking lot in front of the green machine. The clean-up begins at 1 p.m.
“You start the clean-up at 1 p.m. and at whichever area you want to clean, that’s your choice, and then at 3 p.m. we will meet back at the Air Canada Centre where we will have a BBQ and some prizes for the kids,” added Kitchen.
