A package containing contraband and other unauthorized items has been seized at Dorchester Penitentiary’s minimum security unit.
Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) officials say the seizure was made on April 9 and included 172 millilitres of THC oil, 164 grams of THC, 50 grams of marijuana, 49 grams of tobacco, 8 grams of crystal methamphetamine along with one cell phone and a charger.
The estimated street value is about $260,000.
Prison officials notified the police who are now part of the investigation.
The CSC says it uses a number of tools to prevent drugs from entering its institutions including ion scanners and drug detector dogs to search buildings, personal property, inmates and visitors.
The CSC has set up a telephone tip line, 1-866-780-3784, so that it may receive additional information about activities relating to security at federal institutions.
