The number of active COVID-19 hospitalizations in New Brunswick remains at nearly 200.
New Brunswick’s two regional health authorities released their latest figures on Wednesday.
They report a total of 192 active COVID admissions in their facilities, unchanged from a week ago.
Of those currently in the hospital, 21 are being treated in an intensive care unit.
Horizon Health is reporting 121 active COVID hospitalizations, including 17 in an ICU. Vitalité Health said it has 71 active COVID hospitalizations, including four in an ICU.
The figures include those hospitalized for COVID and those with the virus being treated primarily for other conditions.
As we reported on Tuesday, Public Health reported 79 people in the hospital for the virus as of Saturday.
But that figure did not include patients with COVID who are being treated primarily for other conditions. Public Health no longer reports that data, leaving it up to the health authorities.
According to the two health authorities, 424 health care workers are off the job due to COVID-19 — either because they tested positive for the virus or were a close contact with someone who did.
