New Brunswick has eased its COVID-19 vaccination policy to allow unvaccinated workers in the vulnerable sector back on the job.
Starting April 11, non-fully vaccinated employees in the sector can return to work if they follow “mitigation measures” established under Public Health guidance.
The move impacts regional health authorities, Extra-Mural/Ambulance NB and corrections, and the province noted operators of nursing homes and adult residential facilities must follow suit.
In its latest COVID-19 update, the province stated that upwards of 600 health care workers were in isolation after testing positive for the virus.
Under the changes, any employee not considered fully vaccinated will be required to follow the measures.
“Full vaccination will be defined as up-to-date vaccination requirements as determined by an employer in these vulnerable sectors based on Public Health guidance. Public Health currently recommends that full vaccination requires three doses for employees in these sectors,” stated the release issued late Friday afternoon.
Requirements to be fully vaccinated went into effect in November, and non-compliant employees were placed on leave without pay.
