Hundreds of Canada’s top university track and field athletes are in Saint John for the next few days.
The U SPORTS Track and Field Championships are taking place at the Irving Oil Field House.
More than 500 student-athletes from 32 schools are competing in the three-day event.
A couple of para-athletes are among those participating in this weekend’s event, according to Andy Campbell, communications manager for the host UNB Reds. U SPORTS does not currently have a para category.
This is the first time an Atlantic University Sport school has hosted the national university track and field championships.
It is also one of the first major national championship meets hosted in the Irving Oil Field House, which opened in 2019.
Participating schools include the University of New Brunswick, St. Thomas University, StFX University, l’Université de Moncton, Saint Mary’s University, Dalhousie University, and Cape Breton University.
The competition begins at 2 p.m. Thursday and continues through late Saturday afternoon. You can see live results by clicking here.
