Pothole season is well underway and drivers in Atlantic Canada are being urged to cast their vote in CAA Atlantic’s annual “Worst Roads” campaign.
CAA Atlantic spokesperson Steve Olmstead says our region’s harsh climate has a big impact on the condition of our roads.
“People are expressing that they’re seeing more potholes and maybe some infrastructure that’s been beaten up over the winter. It’s that time of year and we seem to experience that every year.”
Olmstead says politicians and governments definitely take notice of the annual results.
“The list really is an opportunity for them to say, okay we didn’t have that on our list. We’ll get that on our list or let’s go check that out right now and see what we can do maybe sooner rather than later.”
Olmstead notes how a lot of submissions come from rural residents which may reflect how bad roads can be in rural areas.
Residents can upload up to five images and votes will be accepted until April 15 on CAA Atlantic’s “Worst Roads” website.
