After two years of the pandemic, the St. Joseph’s Hospital Foundation wants to inject a little fun into fundraising.
They have launched a year-long 50/50 to engage with the community.
Executive Director Laurie Flood said they thought this might lift people’s spirits and give them a chance to win.
“It’s an online fundraiser so you just go to, stjosephs5050.ca, purchase your tickets. Right now our jackpot is at $11, 510.00 and the winners get half,” Flood said.
Flood said they have a priority list which comes from Horizon Health for the funds raised.
“One of the things on the top of our list is a new microscope for our eye clinic and it will help with our corneal transplant program,” Flood said.
Another item from the list is cuddle beds which allow the families of geriatric patients to get close to their loved ones.
“If they want to crawl right into that bed, it’s bigger than a hospital bed and they can snuggle up providing that comfort at end of life or at difficult times in their time with us,” Flood said.
Flood said they are looking at purchasing one for each of the five geriatric units at St. Joe’s.
