Port Saint John has named the temporary successor for Jim Quinn who was recently named to the Canadian senate.
Captain Chris Hall will become interim president and CEO starting July 14th.
He currently serves as the VP for Operations and Harbour Master for the port having joined the port in 2014.
Captain Hall has over thirty years of experience in the marine industry.
A news release from Port Saint John on Tuesday said Hall’s leadership has been instrumental in the engineering and construction of the West Side Modernization Project.
Hall is a master mariner with a bachelor’s degree in nautical sciences.
His career began with the Canadian Coast Guard serving with vessels ranging from ice breakers in the Arctic to search and rescue ships in the Atlantic.
After many years with the Coast Guard, Captain Hall moved to private industry where he worked in the offshore oil and gas sector.
He served as chief officer and master on anchor handling/supply vessels in the Gulf of
Mexico and on the east coast of Canada.
With an interim president in place, the Port’s board of directors will start the search for a permanent president and CEO.
