The Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association (ACAA) will return to full competition for the upcoming season.
Officials announced Thursday that training camps are set to begin Aug. 27 and schedules for each sport will be released soon.
Michael Eagles, president of the ACAA, said the athletic directors in the conference had completed significant preparation work in developing competition plans to prepare for this opportunity to compete again.
“We were very pleased to hear the support from the ACAA President’s for our return to play and competition this fall — this is fantastic news for the student-athletes and coaches, and is another positive step towards a return to normal life for our institutions,” Eagles said in a news release.
ACAA cancelled fall sports last year due to COVID-19 and made the same decision for winter sports in October.
Many athletes were able to do some training and practices on campus and, as the pandemic situation improved, there was exhibition play for winter sports.
The association is made up of 10 member schools, including the University of New Brunswick, St. Thomas University, Mount Allison University, Crandall University, Dalhousie Agricultural Campus, Mount Saint Vincent University, Université Sainte-Anne, University of King’s College, and Holland College.
