New Brunswick reported eight new COVID-19 cases on Monday — the highest number of new cases in more than a month.
There are three cases each in the Moncton (Zone 1) and Edmundston (Zone 4) health regions, and one each in the Saint John (Zone 2) and Fredericton (Zone 3) health zones.
Public Health said all eight cases are travel-related or contacts of previously reported cases.
New Brunswick now has 55 active cases, with two more recoveries reported since Sunday. Two people are currently in the hospital.
Public Health has confirmed a positive case at Moncton High School, which remains closed as contact tracing is carried out.
A positive case has also been confirmed at two Edmundston child-care facilities as well as a possible exposure at École Notre-Dame, where one of the facilities is located.
École Notre-Dame and Halte Scolaire Krok Soleil will remain closed until March 30 while Garderie Mont Ste-Marie will be closed until further notice.
Meanwhile, vaccine clinics began Monday for high school staff across the province. The province said more than 4,500 staff members are expected to receive a vaccine by Saturday.
Schools will be closed to students on the days that local clinics are being held.
Vaccines clinics are taking place in Edmundston and Centreville on Monday. Clinics will be held in Hampton, St. Stephen and Miramichi on Tuesday for staff from 17 schools.
Clinics are scheduled in the Fredericton region on Wednesday, the Saint John region on Thursday, the Tracadie and Moncton regions on Friday, and the Shediac, Bathurst and Campbellton regions next Monday.
The province said more vaccine clinics will be available for staff and elementary and middle schools, and for early childhood service providers and child-care staff in the coming weeks.
