The Running Room, located in Brunswick Square, will permanently close by the end of the month.
The store had closed for several weeks during the Covid-19 lockdown but had opened again recently.
“Brunswick Square hasn’t been quite the same in terms of traffic and all the stores opening up,” said John Acheson, Running Room Area Manager and Athletics Events Coordinator, adding the lack of foot traffic from the cruise ships also had an impact.
“It’s a small store to begin with … so it finally took a toll and they decided to close the store as a result.”
The Running Room had operated in the mall for 12 years, where it had moved from Market Square in 2003.
Acheson said the Running Room will still be involved in local events such as Marathon By the Sea.
“There’s an events team that goes all across New Brunswick and Atlantic Canada, you don’t necessarily have to have a location to have the events team, its very mobile,” he said.
