Officials say they’ve identified the partial remains of Capt. Brenden Ian MacDonald, the second victim to be found after last month’s military helicopter crash off Greece.
The announcement was made on Sunday.
The Department of National Defence says the Office of the Chief Coroner of Ontario used DNA for the identification.
The remains were recovered as part of the search that followed the April 29 helicopter crash that killed six people.
Captain Brenden Ian MacDonald was a Pilot originally from New Glasgow, Nova Scotia.
The remains of 23 year old Sub-Lt. Abbigail Cowbrough were previously found, identified and repatriated.
An RCAF Flight Safety team continues to investigate the crash, while recovery efforts and search for additional remains will continue.
Four members are still considered missing and presumed dead.
They are:
Captain Kevin Hagen, Pilot, originally from Nanaimo, British Columbia
Captain Maxime Miron-Morin, Air Combat Systems Officer, originally from Trois-Rivires, Qubec
Sub-Lieutenant Matthew Pyke, Naval Warfare Officer, originally from Truro, Nova Scotia
Master Corporal Matthew Cousins, Airborne Electronic Sensor Operator, originally from Guelph, Ontario
