For the eleventh day in a row, New Brunswick has no new cases of COVID-19 and the total number of confirmed cases stands at 118.
The province has only four active cases and only one individual remains in hospital.
Public health has conducted about 13,700 tests to date.
Chief medical officer of health Dr. Jennifer Russell says we must remain vigilant because the virus is in neighbouring jurisdictions.
“COVID-19 is not gone just because we have zero cases in the province today. We will have more cases.”
Russell says swift action will be taken if any future outbreaks occur.
“When and if that happens, we will have to ask some or all of you to accept the reimposition of restrictions on your lives until a vaccine becomes widely available.”
Russell urges New Brunswickers to get comfortable wearing facial masks and she’s adds it’s especially important for the elderly and anyone with a compromised immune system.
She adds we must continue to maintain physical distancing and appropriate hygiene practices as the province gradually moves toward reopening the economy.
