Five weeks after a state of emergency was declared in most of Atlantic Canada, Narrative Research asked residents about the impact COVID-19 will have on the economy.
In the latest in a series of studies about COVID-19, CEO Margaret Brigley says most respondents have grave concerns about the virus.
“They told us that they are unanimous in their belief that COVID-19 presents some extremely serious threats to the country and the region from an economic perspective as well as to long-term care facilities.”
Brigley says the majority of Atlantic Canadians who took part also believe the virus will have a serious threat to their own personal financial situation.
After weeks of physical distancing, Brigley says most are expressing some level of concern about contracting the virus.
However, less than one in 10 have experienced or had someone in their household experience symptoms of COVID-19.
This survey was conducted from April 16 to April 19, 2020, with 3,236 Atlantic Canadians, 18 years of age or older, from Narrative Research’s online panel, East Coast Voice.
