No new cases of COVID-19 were reported in New Brunswick today, the total remains at 117.
Chief medical officer of health says the number of recoveries is also growing strong, currently standing at 83.
Dr. Jennifer Russell says they conducted 586 tests yesterday, the highest number in one day since the beginning of the pandemic.
She added that far about 99 hundred individuals have been tested and that only 1.1 per cent had the virus.
Russell says a small number of individuals have been hospitalized and that they should be kept in our thoughts.
A total of 13 people have been hospitalized and eight have since been discharged.
She says she’s proud of how well the province is doing but says residents must keep following recommendations.
“We must not give this virus any breaks, everyone needs to keep doing what they’re doing. Our neighbours all around us in other jurisdictions don’t have that kind of good news to report, so because we know about these other situations elsewhere we must still be very vigilant,” she says.
She urged New Brunswickers to continue to stay at home as much as possible, and to keep interactions brief when they go out. She said it remains important for people to practise physical distancing, and she suggested wearing a non-medical mask that covers the mouth and nose when physical distancing is not possible.
New Brunswickers are urged to continue to monitor themselves and their families for the symptoms of COVID-19:
– fever above 38C;
– a new cough or worsening chronic cough;
– sore throat;
– runny nose; and
– headache.
Anyone experiencing two or more of these symptoms should contact 811 and follow the direction provided.
