The province said Sunday that fines are now being handed out to those not following the state of emergency.
Over the weekend, there were reports of vehicles with more than one person inside being pulled over, requiring proof that each passenger lives at the same address.
One man claims he was hit with a fine of almost $300.
The state of emergency says it’s illegal to “knowingly” be within two metres of another person unless they live together.
Fines for failing to obey the state of emergency range from $292 to more than $10,000.
