Canada’s Prime Minister is confident that the country will have access to necessary medical equipment.
This comes after President Donald Trump ordered manufacturing company 3M to stop providing N-95 masks to Canada.
Justin Trudeau says he’s made it clear to the U.S. that the move could hinder both countries.
“We are receiving essential supplies from the United States, but the Unites States also receives essential supplies, products and indeed health care professionals from Canada every single day,” he says.
Trudeau noted the number of medical personnel in Windsor, Ont. that cross the border into Detroit, MI to work every day.
He says he’ll be speaking with Trump but that 3M understands the importance of continuing to deliver goods to Canada.
Trudeau says the federal government is also working with a number of companies to ensure proper distribution of essential goods and medical supplies.
He says they have entered an agreement with Amazon Canada to help with those deliveries.
Trudeau also announced 100 millions dollars to support community organizations like food banks, the Breakfast Club and the Salvation Army.
He says this will enable organizations to hire temporary workers to help fill volunteer shortages and purchase personal protective equipment to keep themselves and their clients safe.
He thanked all the organizers and volunteers who are working tirelessly to help the less fortunate and urged anyone who can to donate to groups who support the less fortunate.
