The 2020 Red Triangle Awards is one of many Saint John events postponed by the pandemic.
The Saint John YMCA has shut down nearly all its 19 facilities because of the COVID-19 outbreak.
President and CEO Shilo Boucher, says it was a difficult decision to make but necessary since no one knows how long this will last.
“We feel that when we get back to normal people may not be comfortable going to big public events so we wanted to make sure we were ready and making the right decisions,” Boucher said.
Boucher says there are a lot of logistics involved in shutting down 19 different facilities some of which include pools.
Those facilities include the Regional Y and the Irving Oil Field House which just opened its doors last fall.
The Red Triangle Awards are now scheduled to take place in November.
