If you get a parcel from Canada Post, you won’t be asked to sign for it.
Mail carriers are taking what they call a “Knock, Drop and Go” approach as part of social distancing amid COVID-19.
The postal service is making some other changes like asking customers to stand six feet apart at the post office, and packages left at the post office for pick-up will not be returned to sender.
They say if you are feeling unwell or self-isolating, your parcel will be waiting for you when you can safely visit the post office.
You can still use cash to pay, but they are encouraging you to pay by “tap” with your debit or credit cards where possible. Many post offices operated by Canada Post are also reducing their hours, opening one hour later and closing one hour earlier to give staff extra time to sanitize the store.
For the first hour of each day, the post office will offer priority service to seniors or those with a compromised immune system.
