New Brunswick reported one new confirmed case of COVID-19 on Tuesday, bringing the total number of cases to 18.
Dr. Jennifer Russell, chief medical officer of health, said the individual is a woman between 20 and 30 years old who lives in southeastern New Brunswick and recently returned from international travel.
Russell said two people have required hospitalization so far: one person in Zone 2 (southern New Brunswick) and one in Zone 3 (central New Brunswick).

Russell said there is no indication of community transmissions yet which are cases with no clear link to a known source of infection but she expects that will happen soon.
Public health officials are working to increase the number of tests since the province has been lagging behind others in testing with about 1,230 performed so far.
Russell said tests are only being done on those who have symptoms of the virus and have returned home from outside the province.
The province’s top doctor also announced Tuesday that anyone who has travelled outside of New Brunswick will need to self-isolate for 14 days.
