For the first time in a few days, New Brunswick has no new cases of COVID-19.
But the chief medical officer of health says we must continue to follow public health guidelines such as staying at home and social distancing.
Dr. Jennifer Russell does anticipate more cases in the days ahead.
“We expect to see more travel-related cases along with clusters of close contacts. We’ll still continue our contact tracing and self-isolation pieces. But the fact that we have these measures in place, I think it will definitely slow down the number of new cases but it will also slow down the onset of community transmissions.”
Dr. Russell felt New Brunswickers were not taking enough measures to flatten the curve of the pandemic which is why she supported the enactment of emergency measures.
As of March 19, the province has 7 confirmed and 4 presumptive cases for a total of 11.
In addition, Dr. Russell says more than 400 tests have come back negative.
