The Saint John Regional Hospital Foundation has set up a New Brunswick COVID-19 emergency response fund to assist provincial healthcare facilities.
Foundation President Jeff McAloon says they want to be ready to fill any critical needs should the health authority call on them.
He says they have already had a request.
“We have already had some exchanges with members of our diagnostic imaging team about about some portable imaging equipment that may be helpful at some of the remote testing sites,” McAloon said.
McAloon says they don’t want to jump to any conclusions yet because it’s an important to let the healthcare professionals decide what they need.

He says it’s important to give their donors or anyone in the community the ability to show their support.
“There are so many moving parts, if there is a frontline need, if there is a communication need, an equipment need, a training need, we want to be able to help support that with community contributions if we are called upon,” McAloon said.
The Saint John Regional Hospital Foundation office closed to the public on Friday with most staff are working remotely.
